Why study sport management at WVU Tech?
The sport management program at WVU Tech offers a multidisciplinary curriculum which allows students to take a variety of sport discipline courses in addition to accounting, business management and communications.
WVU Tech students have an opportunity to obtain a WVU degree while studying on the Montgomery campus, which offers small classes and individualized instruction.
What do students say they enjoy most about the program?
Our students participate in an extensive internship, which can include placement in a high school or college athletic department, with a semi-pro baseball team, or with an outdoor recreational company in the area. This hands-on experience is mutually beneficial as the internship provides the student an opportunity to learn the sport business while the sport organization evaluates a potential future employee.
How does the program work?
The first two years of the program are pre-sport management coursework. Students should apply for admission to the sport management program during their sophomore year after completing 45 hours of the required curriculum.
What opportunities are available for graduates?
Our graduates find career opportunities as sport information directors, compliance directors, athletic directors and athletic managers.
