What is a Regents Bachelor of Arts degree?

The RBA is a program for adults with previous college credit and/or significant lifelong learning seeking to complete a baccalaureate degree. The program combines all of your college-level learning and applies that knowledge toward a bachelor’s degree.

Individuals that have successfully completed college courses, challenging professional programs, rigorous military training or other learning experiences, but never completed a college degree, are good candidates for this program.

How can a RBA degree help you?

A bachelor’s degree is essential for many jobs and even some volunteer positions. No matter how hard you work, how many skills you have or how great your interpersonal skills may be, you could miss out on career opportunities if you are not a college graduate. The RBA degree opens doors to future career opportunities.

What are the basic degree requirements?

The RBA program at WVU Tech requires a total of 120 credit hours: 36 general education hours, 39 upper division hours, 24 residence hours (hours in the West Virginia state system including 3 hours at WVU Tech.)

Can I take courses online?

Yes, and some can be completed in as little as 6 weeks. You can earn credit through CLEP and DSST tests, credit for professional certifications and portfolio credit for lifelong learning experiences.

What are the eligibility requirements?

To be eligible for an RBA, degree you must have completed high school at least four years ago, have a high school diploma or a GED, cannot hold a baccalaureate degree and must follow the normal WVU Tech admissions procedures.

Is the RBA degree new?

The RBA program has been around for over 40 years with tens of thousands of graduates. Graduates have gone on to earn advanced degrees or assume leadership roles in a variety of industries across the nation.

How can I pay for my degree?

An RBA degree may be the most affordable degree option anywhere. Not only can you take full advantage of prior college credits and adult learning, you may also qualify for financial aid. Check with the WVU Tech Financial Aid Office for details.
