Why study business management at WVU Tech?
Our program provides a broad understanding of management and leadership through a variety of courses in human resource management, marketing, organizational behavior, operations management, statistics and business strategy. Students develop critical communication skills (written and verbal), learn to integrate and synthesize information and improve upon leadership capabilities.
Students that enjoy working in groups and are active in high school and community organizations tend to enjoy this program.
What makes the WVU Tech program unique?
We provide students with an opportunity to gain practical experience in the public or private sectors through internships. Students can participate in an internship program for upper division college credit worth up to six credit hours.
The department also sponsors a student chapter of the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) in which many business management students choose to participate. Tech’s SHRM student chapter has been awarded the National Superior Merit Award for the past five years, which places our chapter in the top quartile of all SHRM chapters.
How does the program work?
Students have the flexibility to take a variety of electives to customize their major focusing on accounting, economics, finance, human resource administration and/or marketing.
