Why study athletic coaching education (ACE) at WVU Tech?
Students have an opportunity to study topics such as coaching, sport technique, exercise physiology, sport nutrition, sport psychology and teaching methods. Our ACE curriculum follows the national standards published by the National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE).
Our students have an opportunity to obtain a WVU degree while studying on the Montgomery campus, which offers small classes and individualized instruction.
Students who have a passion for sport, a desire to make a difference in the lives of athletes and the dedication to strive for personal excellence will enjoy this program.
How does the program work?
The first two years of the program are pre-ACE coursework. Students must apply for admission to the ACE program. Students in the program also receive a minor in sport management.
What do students say they enjoy most about the program?
Our students participate in an extensive 12-hour internship in a recreational, high school, semi-pro or collegiate sport setting. Students enjoy this hands-on experience, which prepares them for employment or graduate school upon completion.
What careers are available for athletic coaching education majors?
Graduates find career opportunities that include, but are not limited to, youth, high school or collegiate coaches, personal trainers, adventure sports specialists and athletic directors.
